About Toledo Iron Works
Established in South Florida in the late 1960s, Toledo Iron Works has become one of the recognized names in ornamental metals, a family business built in Miami, now over 50 years strong, on trust, loyalty, and reliability.
Our Story
Toledo Iron Works was founded by Gregorio Suárez and his son Guillermo Suárez Sr. in South Florida in the late 1960s.
Gregorio was originally a Jai Alai player. His extensive trips to Europe in the early part of the 20th century opened up a thirst for creativity. Taking advantage of his popularity in Jai Alai, he was able to secure apprenticeships in blacksmithing, and he continued to learn and master the craft throughout Spain and Italy under the watchful eye of the greatest masters of the time.
Eventually he passed that knowledge on to his son, and together they built the foundation everything here still stands on: learn the craft properly, do the work honestly, and let the work speak for decades.
That is how a family forge that started with burglar bars and honest ironwork grew, generation by generation, into a complete metals shop for South Florida's finest homes and hardest working builders.
Timeline
Gregorio Suárez and his son Guillermo Suárez Sr. establish the business in South Florida. Gregorio brings the craft he mastered in Spain and Italy, learned through blacksmithing apprenticeships secured during his Jai Alai career, and passes it to his son.
Father and son officially establish Toledo Doors in 1973. Guillermo Sr. leads the company with his brother Rolando and their father by his side, and builds it into a successful door company. Toledo's door systems become a staple of single family homes across South Florida, known for unique and elegant finishes through the 1980s. As the work grows, the shop begins taking on additional metal work beyond doors.
In 1992, Guillermo Jr. takes over the company and expands its horizons. New projects and contacts are established in Florida, New York, Illinois, Maryland, Virginia, throughout the Caribbean, and in South America.
Guillermo Jr. is the one who takes Toledo from a successful door company into a full ornamental metals solutions company. Toledo Doors becomes Toledo Iron Works, a complete metals solution for new construction projects: not just doors, but railings, stairs, gates, fencing, and the full ornamental and miscellaneous metals scope.
President & Owner, Fourth Generation
Bryan-Michael Suarez is the President and fourth generation owner of Toledo Iron Works. He grew up in this business, in the shop and on job sites, and brings more than 20 years of hands on experience to the company he now leads. Since taking over in 2015, he has expanded Toledo’s project work internationally, invested in upgraded machinery and modern manufacturing techniques, and positioned the company as a full service ornamental metals partner to leading builders, architects, and designers. A Miami native, he is a graduate of Belen Jesuit Preparatory School and studied at Florida International University.
A strong team builder, Bryan-Michael works closely with contractors, architects, and owners, especially when a project gets difficult. His philosophy is simple: in construction, the question is never if a problem will come up, it is when. What sets Toledo Iron Works apart is the solutions it brings when it does.
Today the company is led by Bryan-Michael, carrying forward over 50 years of family craft, measuring, building, and installing out of the same Miami shop, now with upgraded machinery and modern manufacturing techniques, taking on projects at home and abroad, and putting the family name on every job.
He does not do it alone. His sister Natalie works alongside him as the company controller, running accounting and the financial side of the business. His brother Tristan works in estimating, reviewing bid invitations and new project drawings and building the estimates and proposals that start each job. Three siblings, one shop, and the same standard their family set from the beginning.
The Family Today
Toledo is still a family business in the most literal sense. The owner, the controller, and estimating are siblings who grew up around this work and now run it together.

“Business is simple: Do what you say you're going to do, when you say you're going to do it!”
That line is not a slogan on a wall. It is the operating rule, for estimates, for schedules, for installs, and for every callback. It is why project managers here own their projects end to end.
What We Believe
